Beige, taupe, gray, white, off-white, cream, soft blue, olive green, red, lavender, the options are endless when deciding on colors for your new custom home… so what do you pick? Here are some things to consider when picking the color scheme for your new home interior and exterior.
Curb Appeal
The color palette you choose for the exterior of your house has a huge impact on the home’s curb appeal. Before choosing a color or colors to use on the exterior of your home, you should consider the climate in your location, colors of surrounding homes, the natural landscape, and your own taste in home aesthetics. You may choose to hire an exterior design specialist to help you choose the best options for your area and situation. Once you’ve found the color or colors you think you want to use, it’s a good idea to look up that exact color in Google image search or another web image search. Look at how other homes appear when painted with your colors, and make sure you know how that color or colors will look in full sun versus full shade, as colors can appear very different depending on the lighting conditions.
Consider the Space
The color of a room can set its tone. For small or dark rooms, going with deep, super saturated, or dark colors may make the space feel squeezed.
