Top Notch Schools
The Cherokee County School District is one of the best in the nation! Students consistently score some of the highest SAT and ACT scores in the state and nation, and the school district has consistently maintained higher graduation rates than the state.

Looking for higher or continuing education options? Look no further than your own backyard! Reinhardt University in is located in northern Cherokee, in the city of Waleska, and Chattahoochee Technical College has locations across North Georgia.
Cherokee’s Cities
When you move to Cherokee County, you get the best of both worlds: small town life and vibrant city life. Each city has its own unique feel, from relaxing horse farms to exciting events and quality shops.
Canton is the county seat of Cherokee, with a laid back but thriving downton area, several community events, restaurants, and shops. Canton is home to several wonderful parks, and the amazing Cherokee County aquatic center.
Woodstock is Cherokee’s largest city, with a bustling downtown area, which plays host to a summer concert series, Friday night events, and plenty of other community events. Woodstock has its own multi-use (walk, run, bike) trail system, and tons of parks.
Ball Ground is a smaller city than Woodstock or Canton, but has a quaint downtown area with shops, restaurants, and events. Ball Ground and Waleska, two of the county’s northernmost cities, are great places to get away from the hustle and bustle of South Cherokee, relax, and take in the mountain views. Other cities in Cherokee include Holly Springs and a portion of Nelson. Holly Springs is situated next to Woodstock and Canton, and Nelson is farther north toward Jasper.

The Sequoyah Regional Library System has libraries throughout Cherokee County and is a great place to spend the afternoon.

Throughout the county there are also several emergency service organizations, including Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services, Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, Cherokee County Marshal’s Office, and several local hospitals.
