2018: Year Of Ultra Violet
Before the start of each calendar year, the Pantone Color Institute forecasts a “Color of the Year” to represent upcoming design trends. This year, Pantone chose Ultra Violet, a deep shade of vivid violet.
Why Ultra Violet?
When announcing Ultra Violet as the 2018 Color of the Year, Pantone described the color as “Complex and contemplative,” explaining that the color “suggests the mysteries of the cosmos, the intrigue of what lies ahead, and the discoveries beyond where we are now.” Not only does the color encourage creativity and wonder, it also makes a gorgeous accent color!
Where We Might See It
Builder Online has some great examples of how builders and homeowners may choose to incorporate this complex color into home design and decor. From colorful backlighting and accent walls, to furniture, appliances, and art, we may be in for a year of everything Ultra Violet!
Previous Color Of The Year
The Color of the Year for 2017 was a spring green color called “Greenery.” With a fresh feel and a pop of color, Greenery was an instant hit as Color of the Year. From accent walls and decor, to clothing, social media, and consumer goods, Greenery was a very popular color in 2017. Will Ultra Violet see similar success in 2018?
